Minneriya afternoon safari drive is interesting as you can spot elephants at a very close range. Apart from elephants there are approximately 160 bird species, 9 types of amphibians, over 20 types of reptiles and more than 75 butterfly species. Minneriya park has rare bamboo tree all over the park. This is something you will not see in other national parks.
Near the river you will enjoy watching the elephants play with one another along with their young ones and grazing on the lush green grass. These 3 – 4 hour safari jeep ride will be a thrilling adventure for you. Minneriya park is special because of the Gathering where the largest Asian elephants flock near the Minneriya water tank. Overview
- Elephants, Spotted Deer, Sambar Deer, Wild Buffalo, Wild Pig, Grey Langers, Purple-faced Leaf Monkeys, three types of Mongoose, Porcupine, and Indian Pangolin are among the park’s 24 animal species. Over 170 bird species have been reported in Minneriya National Park.
