Bundala National Park is a significant wildlife sanctuary located in the southern part of Sri Lanka. Harboring about 200 bird species, Bundala national park is an internationally famous wintering ground for thousands of migratory birds. They are namely Petite Blue Tailed bee-eaters, flocks of Flamingos, Brown Flycatcher, Sandpipers, Barn Swallow, Water Fowl, Common Redshank, the Lesser Sand Plover and Forest Wagtail. The park is renowned for its rich biodiversity and serves as a crucial wetland habitat. It is particularly known for being a Ramsar Wetland, indicating its international importance for waterfowl. It is a UNESCO Biosphere reserve. Bundala is a haven for birdwatchers, as it is home to a vast array of bird species, including both migratory and resident birds. Notably, it is a significant wintering ground for migratory waterbirds. The park attracts a large number of migratory birds, including flamingos, pelicans, ibises, and various species of ducks. The seasonal movements of these birds make Bundala a fascinating destination for bird enthusiasts. It is a protected park with wetlands which creates a habitat for many wildlife varieties. Bundala park homes a large number of elephants and spotted deer. You will see many crocodiles be it morning or afternoon safari. Our driver can pick from your hotel or at the park’s entrance. For the Bundala afternoon safari we will pick you up by 1.15 PM as the safari is from 2 PM to 6 PM.
