Comfortable 4-WD Jeep
Udawalawe full day safari should be on your bucket list if you are an elephant fan. Udawalawe National Park is located in a small town in the southern part of the Rathnapura district in Sri Lanka.
Our full day tour will include hotel pickup and drop-off, park fees and a private and comfortable safari 4×4 jeep.
You can never predict the best time to visit the park because we cannot predict what time the animals will come out. Therefore a full day safari is always recommended, merely because there is no need to rush to see the animals. You are able to relax and wait until they appear and observe their behaviour in the natural habitat.
You will see wild elephants at Udawalawe roaming freely in herds. Earth Lanka Events tour guides will explain about the origin and the behaviour of the Asian elephants as well as the other rare breeds of animals at the Udawalawe safari park.
You are most likely to see many animals from water buffaloes to crocodiles and monkeys to leopards as well as resident and migrants birds of every color
Overview
- Species recorded in the Park include around 90 plus plants, over twenty fish, 12 Amphibians, 33 reptiles, 184 birds, 43 mammals including 130 butterflies.Udawalawe is also a bird watching site. Some of the breeding resident birds are Spurfowl, Malkoha, Hornbill Babbler, Jungle Fowl etc.Udawalawe Elephant transit home was established to look after abandoned elephant calves within the park.
The Rusty spotted Cat, Fishing Cat, Leopard, Sloth bear, Sambar deer and Axis Deer are some of the animals found here.
Reptiles and fish include lizards, crocodiles, monitors, snakes etc. Pine planting, poaching, cleaning of forests are a major threats to the park.
Tour duration is expected to be 12 hours with a breakfast and lunch break in between
