Many endemic species, such as the Sri Lanka Blue Magpie, Sri Lanka Crested Drongo, and Red-faced Malkoha, are most active during the early hours.

Sinharaja Rain Forest is a major eco tourism hot spot in Sri Lanka. The early morning safari tour to this forest reserve would be a much more enchanting tour than in the afternoon. It is popular as one of the few virgin forests which are left in the world. This mysterious and refreshing forest which is the last extensive and expensive stretch of forest reserve is located 120 KM South East of Colombo. It is an ecological treasure trove. Bring binoculars and cameras to fully appreciate and document the diverse bird species found in Sinharaja.
